The rapper sported a strappy dress and giant fur coat in a fitting pale pink

 

 

Last night, as I sat in the pink bleachers waiting for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show to begin in Brooklyn, I heard a small portion of the crowd start cheering as one person took their seat, minutes before the show began.

Although it was hard to see from across the room, I looked over and immediately recognized Cardi B—a star who knows that if you’re gonna be fashionably late, you’ve gotta make a statement.

And make a statement the Grammy-winning rapper did, arriving in a strappy, body-hugging gown courtesy of Dsquared2. It was the closest Cardi could get to angelic without donning an actual pair of wings, like the models were wearing.

Upon first glance, the dress looked white, but it was actually a subtle pale pink, which perfectly suited the theme of the evening. The knotty design was covered in cutouts, and looked like it was composed of strips of gauze that crisscrossed the singer’s body.

To pair with the piece, Cardi rocked a giant fur coat, which also came in an almost indiscernible pink. The outerwear featured tiny plumes that gave it a dramatic puff, and it added a glamorous effect to the otherwise saucy look (and also probably kept her warm from the harsh breeze coming off the East River).

The rapper kept things monochromatic by adding a pair of strappy sandal heels in the same rosy shade. And she looked like a royal ready to take her throne, thanks to the large statement necklace dangling across her chest. For beauty, she rocked giant bouncy curls à la Marilyn Monroe, adding to the Old Hollywood glamour of it all.
